Misty Meadows Farm

A dozen years ago, more than $10 million was invested in the original Misty Meadows horse farm to make it a compliant, state-of-the-art facility unequalled in the Northeast.  Solar power was added in the spring of 2016.  Misty Meadows, as it stands today, requires no additional construction or renovation.

The Kenney Family has offered Misty Meadows as a gift to the Martha’s Vineyard Community Horse Center with the intent of obtaining broad, sustainable community interest and financial support.  The vision is to preserve it as a community resource for horse-related activities.  An endowment will help fund operations and provide for property maintenance.

Misty Meadows includes a 5-bedroom house completed in 2002 and a state-of-the-art stable and arena completed in 2002/4.  The 5,000 SF house is of the highest quality with many amenities.  The house has an enclosed courtyard with patio, lawn, gardens and deck surrounding a 55 foot heated Gunite pool.  The timber framed 7,500 SF 14-stall barn with heated floors includes a 3,000 SF wood-paneled hay loft, central skylights, two tack rooms, office, lounge with full bath and kitchenette, laundry, and indoor and outdoor wash stalls.

The 200' by 80' indoor arena completed in 2004 is perhaps the finest in the Northeast with a steel fabricated roof, vaulted 24 foot ceiling with steel beam construction, second floor heated viewing loft, sprinklers, sound system, high tech lighting, cypress stirrup guards, mirrors, footing by West Wind Surfaces, heating and large mechanized screen doors for ventilation.  Riding indoors is complemented by a 180' by 75' outdoor ring with custom footing and endless miles of trails in the abutting Manuel F. Correllus State Forest.

This multi-discipline facility could be a community asset like the YMCA or the Tennis Center EXCEPT it doesn’t have to be built.  It is ready to go!

We want to follow in the spirit of the Langmuir family whose foresight in the 1960s preserved the vast acreage of Nat’s Farm and its vistas for community enjoyment. As owner/custodians of Misty Meadows Horse Farm, with its long history serving Vineyard riders and horse lovers, we are passionate in our desire to preserve it as a community asset horse center.
